Flat Feet

Flat Feet is an orthopedic condition that occurs when the tendons in the foot fail to bind the joints. As the child grows up, these tissues tend to tighten, leading to the formation of an arch. People suffering from the condition do not have a normal arch, i.e., an upward curve in the middle of the foot. In this condition, the entire sole of the foot comes in direct contact with the surface.

Treatment For Flat Feet

Non-surgical Treatment

  • Medication: Taking a prescribed course of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications may help in providing relief from pain.
  • Rest: The doctor may recommend taking rest and applying ice packs to reduce swelling, specifically after physical activities.
  • Exercises:  Physical therapy may be helpful in restoring the strength of the foot muscles and improving flexibility.
  • Orthotic Devices: Wearing orthotic shoes, cast or brace, as suggested by a doctor, may help in reducing pressure from the foot.
